ANGUL-R CAVE

CAVEs (Cave Automatic Virtual Environments) are projection environments that create immersive experiences using multiple screens or projection surfaces arranged around the user. In our CAVE, the walls and floor are used as projection surfaces onto which 3D images are projected, creating an illusion of immersion.

The ANGUL-R CAVE is a large-scale stereoscopic 3D visualisation device.

  • With a floor area of 16 m², it allows high-definition visualisation and manipulation of 3D objects of all sizes.

  • This device allows a highly detailed virtual layer to be applied in a real, human-scale space.

  • When designing a prototype, the CAVE Angul-R allows the designer to manipulate their creation from all angles.

  • The designer can even modify their prototype if necessary.

  • This tool also enables asymmetric collaboration in real time.

  • The CAVE Angul-R works with several rendering engines such as ICE (developed by Vision-R), Unreal Engine and Unity.

  • It supports animations.

Technical specifications of the CAVE ANGUL-R:

  • It has 6 screens, including four 4 screens with a height of 3.20 metres and two horizontal screens on the floor.

  • Stereoscopic visualisation is achieved using 6 laser/phosphor projectors that display images at a frequency of 120 Hz.

  • Stereoscopic glasses enable 3D visualisation and controllers allow the environment to be manipulated.

  • Finally, an Optitrack tracking system ensures that the scene is always in view, thus avoiding any image distortion.
